Once your submitted domain name is approved, you’ll be asked to verify your ownership of the domain by pointing your domain name to Brandpa’s servers.
There are two ways you can point your domain names to us. We recommend you try them in this order:
1. Domain forwarding
Pros: Usually instantaneous, and simpler
Cons: Not always supported by registrars, or they may try to charge you
Most domain registrars offer a “Domain forwarding” or “Web Forwarding” option. To successfully forward your domain name to us, simply enter this URL in the field provided by your registrar:
brandpa-stage-sellers.nccdn.net/names/[your domain name without .com]/landing
For instance, if you own ‘hello.com’ you’d need to forward your domain name to:
brandpa-stage-sellers.nccdn.net/names/hello/landing
Once you’ve done this, if you visit your domain name, you should see a Brandpa page.
If you give Brandpa up to 24 hours, it will detect your domain is pointed automatically. If you prefer, you can tell Brandpa to check right away, by visiting the To point tab of your seller’s dashboard, and clicking Check domains.
2. DNS records
Pros: Almost always free
Cons: Can take 24-48 hours to take effect, may be a bit more difficult
You can also point a domain to Brandpa by changing your domain’s DNS records. To do this, you’ll need to edit the nameservers for your domain in your registrar’s control panel. Set the first and second nameservers to:
ns1.brandpa.com
ns2.brandpa.com
Leave any other nameservers blank.
If you’re given the option, you want to be pointing the bare domain to Brandpa, not the sub-domain “www”. A common mistake is to point (say) www.example.com to us, but what Brandpa is looking for is actually just example.com.
Once you’ve done this, depending on a bit of luck, it can take 24 – 48 hours for the whole Internet to be able to see it. This is down to the way DNS works, and there’s nothing Brandpa or you can do to make it faster.
Brandpa will automatically check if your domain is pointed to us, once every 24 hours. If you prefer, you can ask Brandpa to check right away, by visiting the To point tab of your seller’s dashboard, and clicking Check domains. But because of the nature of DNS, you might have to wait 24-48 hours for Brandpa to be able to see the change.
